About Friends for Dinner
Friends for Dinner is a hospitality initiative taken by churches and Christian ministries that brings International Students into the homes of local Christian hosts for a tasty meal during the traditional holidays of Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. During these meals, friendships are created and opportunities to share the love of Christ are born.
Hosting an international student through Friends for Dinner is a great way to apply what you have learned on EveryInternational. Especially if you have not yet taken the first step to build a relationship with an international.Â
How it works
You register
For both students and hosts, it only takes a few minutes to fill in a registration form. Friends for Dinner locations are listed below. If you don't see your city or region you can be part of launching the program in your area.
Get Matched
A local ministry leader will carefully match registered students and hosts together. Matching is based on location, available dates, and other preferences. They will then send the contact info to both students and hosts.
Enjoy your meal
The host will contact their international student guests to invite them to their home. All that remains is to enjoy your meal together and begin a friendship!
To register as a host in one of these areas click the location name to be taken to the registration page. You will be redirected to the Friends for Dinner website.
Friends for Dinner not available in your area yet?
You can be the one to launch the program in your area! As you have probably heard, 80% of internationals are never invited into the home of a local. Pioneering a Friends for Dinner campaign in your city will give more internationals an opportunity to become friends with a North American Christian.
To get started you’ll need to be involved in a local church and either be connected to an international student office/program or be willing to initiate a relationship with one. You will also need a free Google account.
